Wall art "mughal gardens"-{2}

SO I have finally completed the second wall art of "mughal garden" series . MADE ON WOODEN TRAYS, these can be used for Indian home decor , on walls , peg tables, pillars..and other pretty corners. these are completely hand painted, hence i undertake no mass production. each piece is unique and exclusive....only one of its kind.
 To create something of your own is a complex process...and the most most difficult part of all is conceiving an idea....An artist has a very intimate relation with the art he/she creates.

so, I plan to complete this series in three parts- " mughal gardens" "hindu traditions" and " vintage glories"....stay hooked on for more from these series

who is better you or me?

Raat hai ya baraat phulon ki........

Lots of professional commitments kept my husband busy today. So, me and my son left home early,  packed with our camera, some eatables and less than satisfactory amount of cash :).....After a long session of brainstorming in the auto, we decided we shall go and hangout in the local connoor bazaar.
Branded outlets and malls seemed too monotonous an option. THE bazaar had the potential to throw before us something totally unexpected........Moving through the narrow lanes already brimming with overwhelming presence of all pervasive  human figures, we managed to find something which evokes beautiful sentiments in my soul......

Adornment of gods, desire of  the lovelorn, decking up married damsels of chennai, gift for the secret paramour in those notorious lanes of Lucknow....SO many meanings and so many colours...sometimes it baffles me!

Shop tour 1 :{green shop, conoor} EARTHY SERENITIES

IN  this era of mass produced goods, a heartwarming collection of handmade beauties brings lot of soothing sunshine. IF your heart beats for ethnic handicrafts like mine does,
''green shop" a little outlet in connoor,Tamilnadu...is sure to entice your soul. let me begin with some goodies which i brought back home from Green shop. A handmade ceramic mug and a terracotta jar...

It  houses a bewildering collection of terracotta artifacts which are specially made in" kerela style" of glazing terracotta. also they are blackish brown in colour ...which is a shade darker than normal terracotta

The tea coasters you see above are done in " tikuli style painting".....a derivative of much talked about Madhubani art......riot of colours i must say

These handmade ceramic pottery pieces are one of my favorites because nowhere else  had i been able to get the kind of deal, Green shop had.
The tote bag featured above is embellished with Toda embroidery.....trademark of a tribe which thrives in nilgiri hills.
Dhokra and cast iron figurines from tribal belts of chattisgarh and jharkhand  also makes an appearance on the racks

THESE ready made blouses can spruce up any traditional saree......what say ladies?

Mughal Garden series wall art......1

If  there exists anything called  " nirvana' than for me it lies in the engrossing act of picking up my brush swooshing it left, right and centre....spreading out colours of life....
Started working on a new series . It's called MUGHAL GARDEN . simply because most of its themes and patterns belong to the era of mughals..
what is special that these paintings are not done on canvas or paper ...rather i've made them on wooden trays.
so , if your lonely pillars are craving for some dose of aesthetics...why don't you try making one...or even better- {buy one from me :)}

step one-   get a wooden tray made by your local carpenter....one can also use thin ply as it is less         expensive.
step two- paint it with a darker shade of green { acrylic}

step three- after it dries paint with a lighter shade of green+ blue

step four- rub the second cot with a sand paper softly once the second coat dries

step five- tray is now ready for the floral illustration and painting

step six- after the lotus pattern is painted, keep the tray aside and draw the maharaja on a sheet of hand made paper, paint it with a combination of watercolor and acrylic paints.

step seven- cut out the maharaja neatly and stick properly on the tray

step eight- colour the edges of the maharaja with dark shade of green , to give it more realistic look

step nine- after all is dry, coat it all with varnish or a coat of {fevicol+ water}, let that dry( this can be avoided if you are nt very confidant about it}

and yeppieee! the wall art is done...stay hooked for more tutorials and some lovely art

love

Romancing greens this valentine

 The trick used here is putting up leaves of various shapes together in one space.....and all that in a background of pink adds more drama to the green collection.

For successful indoor garden a space with at least 5 hours of sunlight exposure should be selected,...this ensures sustainability for a variety of plants
This homemaker thinks out of the box.....instead of making center piece with candles or flowers , she quite innovatively uses thorned cacti and succulents as center table decoration....she generates a conversation starter for the lunch
old dry wood has one of the most intriguing textures, nature has to offer. combine that with those little pearly leaves.....and magic begins to weave
what i loved about this homemaker is her inventiveness with the mundane,......she even uses sprouting greens of onions in her tiny indoor garden

what is the use of bounties of nature if we cannot bring their beauties into our lives....
